If you’ve ever been through Cheetham Hill in Manchester you will know it as a place where the locals haven’t exactly got plenty of cash to spare. And so you may be particularly surprised to hear what happened about the £1000 pounds in notes that went blowing in the wind in the streets for people pick up and walk off home with. The calamity befell 54-year old Barry Eastwood who had just withdrawn the cash from the bank when he fell over and dropped his cash. He didn’t expect to get it back when he saw a crowd of youths grabbling the money. Having a heart condition he wasn’t in a fit state to go after it and went off to his car to recover.
So imagine his feelings when a young man came up to his vehicle and thrust some £20 notes at him through the window, then another , and others followed until he had all the money back except just £20. Someone even brought back his bank card which he had dropped in his confusion. He said his faith in today’s youth was restored.
