What would you do if you found an envelope containing a fortune?
This is what happened to Bismark Mensah. The Seattle Times first reported the story of how he spotted the envelope in a shopping trolley at his place of work. It had fallen out of a shopper’s purse. Imagine his amazement when he discovered that it contained a huge amount of cash — actually $20,000.
The woman was on her way to the bank when he ran after her to give her back her money.
Bismark, an immigrant from Ghana who is a very low paid worker on $9 an hour, said that his conscience simply wouldn’t allow him to keep the cash.
