Journeying Home Workshop

Workshop Saturday 10th March 10am – 4pm Greenhill New Church Centre 177 Leicester Road New Barnet, Herts. EN5 5EB

The idea of ‘home’ may have an aspect of a place
where you live but also it has different levels of meaning. On a deeper level
again home is where you are accepted as yourself, a sense of belonging. Often
our family homes are not ‘home’ in that sense; perhaps we need to leave home to
find out who we are and begin our journey of discovering our true self; our
inner self or soul.

“For love alone can waken what is divine within you. In love, you grow and come home to your self.” (John O’Donohue)

The journey is a process of learning and unlearning – we need to become aware of what stops us from moving forward and identify the barriers that block our path. This journey involves times of challenge and also times of inner peace and rest – both are involved. These themes we see in sacred texts and myths in the quest of the hero who faces
tests and learns through this process. This is a universal theme, an ancient wisdom that is handed down through generations through stories either told or written.

“Every day is a journey and the journey itself is home.” (Matsuo Basho)

These stories symbolise the inner spiritual path from a superficial and self-limited spiritual existence to a deepening spirituality in which we discover an increasing inner freedom and peace. We come home to our true inner self, the person we were created to become – if we so choose.

The day will include:

  • A talk and discussion, focusing on the vision of our true self
  • Small group work using ‘Journeying home’ cards
  • Creative space
  • Guided meditation
