Learning

There was a day when I could run and jump
Branches and clouds were in my reach.

There was a day when walking slowly and seeing
the world in detail was my achievement

There came a day when slowly was the pace
calm was the default emotional setting
When I became aware of my body and it’s limits

Now the day has come when I know my place and pace
Know how joyful and amazingly fortunate I am
Know how vast is the world and how small is my place

Now I know all that, I realise that my place is as a tiny jewel
Know I am set in a brooch of great beauty where I reflect
Know that my glitter is a part of the beauty

There will come a day when my life will end
Stop and vanish and there will be nothing left
I will grow dim and fade away and I rejoice

I can know this because I have been loved
I can know this because I have loved
I can know this because love is my belief.
